In the Great Gatsby it represented the American dream which was love mainly and poverty. when jay would throw parties and invite almost anyone it relates to modern time because now in days their are many people who like to gamble. They waste money on unnecessary things. For example, a Gucci belt. When Daisy and Gatsby met Gatsby wasn't a wealthy man but Daisy was. They both fell in love and Daisy wanted a wealthy man. Gatsby worked hard to get wealthy but daisy didn't even bother to wait for him. Daisy was one who loved money.
